The part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 barring national-origin discrimination by any program that receives federal funds; agencies and courts have long read it to require meaningful language access.

What to do / ဘာလုပ်ရမလဲ

If an interpreter is refused, ask for that answer in writing and ask who the organization's civil rights or language access contact is.

Common mistake / မကြာခဏ မှားတတ်သည်များ

'Bring someone who speaks English' is not language access, and a family member is not a substitute for a professional interpreter.
