အမေရိကန် ပြည်ထောင်စုသည် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအတွက် ယာယီအကာအကွယ်အခြေအနေ (Temporary Protected Status — TPS) ကို ၂၀၂၆ ခုနှစ် ဩဂုတ်လ ၇ ရက်နေ့တွင် ရပ်ဆိုင်းလိုက်ပါပြီ။ ယခင်က ၂၀၂၆ ဇန်နဝါရီ ၂၆ ရက်တွင် ရပ်ဆိုင်းရန် ကြေညာခဲ့သော်လည်း တရားရုံးက ယာယီဆိုင်းငံ့ခဲ့ပြီး၊ ထို့နောက် တရားရုံးဆုံးဖြတ်ချက်များအရ ဩဂုတ်လတွင် အတည်ဖြစ်သွားခြင်း ဖြစ်ပါသည်။

USCIS states plainly: “The Burma TPS designation is terminated, effective Aug. 7, 2026.” An earlier termination date of January 26, 2026 was postponed by a federal court in Illinois; after a Supreme Court decision in a related case in June 2026, the termination was allowed to proceed. Litigation continues on a narrower constitutional question, which means this could change again.

Always confirm that anyone offering immigration help is a licensed attorney or accredited by the U.S. Department of Justice. You can check the DOJ’s list of recognized organizations and accredited representatives.

For employers

If you employ Burmese-speaking workers, this creates a specific obligation. USCIS states that EADs in category A12 or C19 issued to TPS Burma beneficiaries are no longer valid, that employers must reverify those employees, and that you cannot continue employing someone who cannot provide proof of current work authorization.

Two things worth getting right, because both carry legal risk of their own. First, reverification applies to the specific employees whose document expired — not to everyone who looks or sounds foreign; over-broad reverification is itself a discrimination problem. Second, many Burmese employees never held TPS at all, and their status is untouched. Check the document you actually have on file rather than assuming, and take advice from an employment attorney on your process.
